Blue Marlin Grand Championship, July 14-19, 2026

Orange Beach –

This annual competition will take place at the Wharf and is a great time for fishermen and non-fishermen alike. Known as “The Greatest Show In Sportfishing,” this professionally-produced event is best known for its monstrous fish weigh in.

W.C. Handy Music Festival, February 15-27, 2026

Florence –

A weeklong celebration of the musical heritage of northwest Alabama, honoring Florence native, W.C. Handy, “Father of the Blues.” More than 200 events take place during the week including mini and headliner concerts, plays, art exhibits, picnics and food.

    The Mountain Brook Chamber of Commerce is hosting the 25th Annual Mountain Brook Market Day in Mountain Brook Village and Lane Parke. This is an all-day shopping event that provides visitors an opportunity to experience a European style sidewalk sale with merchants discounting their merchandise and offering special sales.

    Black Belt Birding Festival, July 31 – August 2, 2026

    Greensboro –

    Alabama’s storied and historic Black Belt region is a premier destination for birding in the Southeast that features open prairie grasslands to forests to bottomland swamps, giving festival attendees the rare opportunity to catch a glimpse of many species of birds in pristine settings. As the Southeast’s largest prairie ecosystem, it is the only place you can find Wood Storks and Swallow-tailed Kites alongside Dickcissels, Painted Buntings and Scissor-tailed Flycatchers. The festival kicks off Friday night with a free welcome party in Greensboro. Choose your own itinerary from events across four counties. Field trips are led by expert guides.

    Piney Chapel American Farm Days, August 7-8, 2026

    Athens –

    For more than 30 years, the city of Athens has held this event where all makes, models and years of tractor and farm equipment will be on display and demonstrated. Considered one of the best antique engine shows in Alabama, offering festival goers a chance to see an array of equipment including gasoline and steam engines in action, horse-drawn equipment, antique tractors, cars, trucks and other farming collectibles.
