Alabama’s storied and historic Black Belt region is a premier destination for birding in the Southeast that features open prairie grasslands to forests to bottomland swamps, giving festival attendees the rare opportunity to catch a glimpse of many species of birds in pristine settings. The event highlights Fort Gaines integral role in the Battle of Mobile Bay. The cannon will be fired every 45 minutes in honor of the soldiers that fought in this pivotal battle. Come and experience a living history day for the whole family. There will be demonstrations of military drills, training as well as the firing of the cannons and much more. 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Gadsden –

Enjoy an evening of spoken word and an opportunity to present original work. This provides an open platform to share original poetry, prose, skits and more. Works can be individual or collaborative and should not exceed five minutes in length when presented. 6-7 p.m.
